Hello everyone,
I hope that you are all ok and having a good day! 🙂
I had my first tic attack at the weekend in a very long time which was a bit frustrating. It as quite scary, but luckily my best friend was there in the room and knew what to do. She went downstairs to get an adult who came and waited for it to pass. I was a little bit shaken, but luckily I came out of it with only a few bumps and bruises.
For those of you that probably don’t know what a tic attack is, it is when you suddenly have rapid bouts of tic movements that can be quite violant and sometimes look like a fit or seizure. They can vary in length and severity and usually happen quite randomly. I tend to have them more often when I am particularly tired or anxious for some reason. As it happened at the end of the week I reckon that it was because I was tired after a long and busy week at school. As I hadn’t had one in such a long time there is always the worry afterwards of when will it happen again or what if I was in the middle of school when it happened? You never know what is around the corner when you have Tourette’s syndrome.Â
At some point I am hoping to film a video properly explaining what tic attacks are and how to deal with them if you have them or someone around you has one, but there is an amazing factsheet available now on tic attacks and how to cope with them from Tourette’s Action.
See you later,
Wilamena 🙂 Xx
